Hi,
This site helped me enormously on occassions, and now I hope somebody can help me again.
As a new (not too experienced dba) I inhereted a few sites in my new job. I noticed in an oracle 8.0.6.1.0 database the following:
When I do "alter database backup controlfile to trace;" command, i see that MAXLOGHISTORY is at the value of 1463, I do not know where this number comes from.
But when I look at v$archived_log, the number of records is 1320.
Now, everyday, about 5 archived redo logs are created.
Thus it mean that in a few weeks time I have a big problem because the oracle system will only "know" of 1463 redologs?
I do not understand it.
Can somebody please explain?
Thanks !

Hello,

You will not have a problem when you reach 1463 redologs (archived redologs). In the sys.v_$archived_log, you will see only the last 1463 archived logs.

Hope this helps ...
