We are developing software u3sing oracle 9i and will be implementing soon. However, our prototype was developed in Oracle 8i and delivered to a couple sites which are now using it to store data. I am looking fora way to move the data stored in the 8i database to the 9i database. Thanks

If you are going to move just the data for particular not default Oracle schemas, then export/import will do the job.

Of course, depending on your database size you might want to take different approaches. Ways to speed up the import were recently discussed Here and also Here

You can also change the block size, move data between diferent OS platforms with export/import.

Hope that helps,
