set pause on crashing sql *plus; [message #55179]

Hi,

I am having Oracle 9i on Win2k server.
When I execute any command after setting pause on my sql*plus window just closes immediately.

SQL>SET PAUSE ON
SQL>SELECT * FROM TAB;
SQL*PLUS window gets closed automatically.
Is there any patch I need to apply. Please guide.

a reported bug, that was fixed in release 9.2.
this bug is effective only in GUI version of sqlplus.
workaround would be calling the sqlplus from commnd prompt~
